Eastman Chemical Company Unveils New, More User-friendly Packaging Design for Skydrol Hydraulic Fluids

Kingsport, TN, April 5, 2016 - Eastman Chemical Company has unveiled a new, updated packaging design for their line of Skydrol Hydraulic Fluids. The transition to this more user-friendly packaging will begin in May of 2016. The packaging will change for all forms of Skydrol Hydraulic Fluid including Skydrol 500B-4, Skydrol LD-4, Skydrol 5 and Skydrol PE-5. The Eastman Skydrol Hydraulic Fluid products themselves will not change.

The packaging change delivers aesthetic benefits of modernizing the look and feel of Skydrol products and unifying them along with Eastman Turbo Oils under the Eastman Aviation Solutions brand. More importantly, the design change is indicative of Eastman's dedication to safety and improving ease of use of their products by making the product identification larger and easier to read. More information on the new Skydrol packaging can be found at Skydrol.com/Packaging.

"Our decision to update the Skydrol line of packaging allowed us to take a product that is extremely reliable and widely trusted across the aviation market, and make it easier to identify and use correctly." said Paul Fridman, Marketing Manager for Eastman Aviation Solutions. "The Skydrol products themselves will not change and will continue to deliver all the approvals, quality and performance that operators have trusted for more than 65 years." he continued.

The Skydrol line of fire resistant hydraulic fluids includes Skydrol 500B-4, Skydrol LD-4, Skydrol 5 and Skydrol PE-5. Skydrol PE-5 was developed to meet the Type V hydraulic fluid requirements developed by Airbus, Boeing, and the hydraulic fluid manufacturers.

Skydrol 500B-4 is the most workplace-friendly of the aviation phosphate esters; it is less irritating to skin and less prone to form mists which can be irritating to the respiratory tract . This has given the product enormous popularity for use in workshops and indoor test stands.

Skydrol LD-4 is well known for its low density, excellent thermal stability, valve erosion prevention, and deposit control benefits. It is the gold standard of Type IV fluids.

Skydrol 5 was the first Type V fluid qualified under the Boeing BMS 3-11 specification. Skydrol 5 offers higher temperature capability than Type IV fluids, the lowest density, and better paint compatibility.

Skydrol PE-5 was developed to exceed Type V fluid requirements. It provides for the longest fluid life of any commercially available fluid, low density and low viscosity at low temperature.
